Yelp connects people with great local businesses thanks to our engaged community of users who share their experiences with tens of thousands of businesses on our platform helping countless people make more informed spending decisions. It’s those user contributions that give great businesses the recognition they deserve, which is more important than ever as businesses do their best to operate in a pandemic. In fact, a recent survey commissioned by Yelp and conducted by Kelton found that of people who read reviews, 7 in 10 say it’s rare for them to go to a new business without first checking out the reviews.
That’s why today, we’re excited to celebrate users who contributed to Yelp in 2021 through our first-ever “Your Year on Yelp” experience, a personalized data-driven recap based on user contributions on Yelp and the valuable impact they had on their community in the last year.
“Your Year on Yelp” is a visual, vertical feed that recaps user contributions, such as reviews written, photos uploaded, compliments and reactions received, survey questions answered and friends made. Not only will users see interesting stats about their activity, but the experience also highlights how users made an impact in their community by detailing how many people they helped decide where to go and which service pro to hire, as well as how many local businesses they supported, based on their contributions.
Users can access the experience this month via the Yelp app home screen and through an email invite. Both email and the in-app links will redirect users to a webpage that summarizes their activity on Yelp. Users can easily share their “Your Year on Yelp” recap via a shareable link, and if viewed on a mobile device, also directly to their Instagram stories.
“Your Year on Yelp” is available to Yelp users who have contributed content about local businesses in 2021. The new experience rolls out today for Yelp users in the U.S. and Canada, and can be accessed on web and the Yelp app. We want to thank our users for all of their valuable contributions that help recognize great local businesses and help others like them make informed decisions.
