Atos joins the European Alliance for Industrial Data, Edge, and Cloud and brings its technological expertise to boost European competitiveness

December 14, 2021,

Atos is proud to join the European Alliance for Industrial Data, Edge, and Cloud officially launched today by the European Commission, following the call from 27 CEOs from European companies. The Alliance aims to strengthen and differentiate Europe’s value proposition in cloud technologies and seize opportunities for global competitiveness in edge computing to achieve European leadership in the global data economy. Atos contributed to the European Technology and Investment roadmap, which was presented to the European Commission in May.

“We are proud to join the European Alliance for Industrial Data, Edge and Cloud, and be among the first wave of members. This represents a major opportunity to enhance collaboration between users and technology providers, to foster European cloud and edge infrastructure, and to generate new market developments through data sharing, data spaces, digital data platforms and ultimately value-added services for European citizens. As a leader in secure and decarbonized digital, we clearly see our technology priorities in the years to come in the areas of cloud and edge, digital security and decarbonization” says Pierre Barnabé, Interim co-CEO, Head of Big Data and Security and Head of Manufacturing at Atos.

Atos is actively engaged in shaping the European ecosystem around cloud and data through board memberships at Gaia-X, IDSA, BDVA and FIWARE. Atos is also heavily contributing to building the “cloud-edge ecosystem” through various European projects such as Important Projects of Common European Interests (IPCEI), Horizon Europe and the European Defence fund.

The sovereign cloud-edge continuum represents a key area of development for Atos, which has launched “Atos OneCloud Sovereign Shield“, a set of solutions, methodologies, and operational cloud services to support digital sovereignty needs of industries and governments worldwide. In this context, Atos recently announced a joint sovereign offering with OVHcloud in France and an international sovereign cloud platform with Dassault Systèmes.
